Small Decisions Fuel Bad Habits
When we make small decisions, it can fuel our bad habits. Bad habits can interrupt your life and prevent you from accomplishing your goals. It can also jeopardize your health both mentally and physically which can lead to multiple chronic diseases.
Breaking a habit isn’t as simple as merely deciding to stop a certain behavior, though that’s a great start. It takes time and dedicated effort to get rid of old habits.
You, yourself, need to recognize that you have these bad habits. Then think about what you’re going to do about it. Some ways to help is by:
- Focus on self-care
- Make a list of which decisions have priority
- Have a personal philosophy for major decisions
- Minimize low-stakes decisions
- Maintain unchanging Routines
- Opt for healthier snacks
- Allow others to help
- Keep tabs on your mental and physical state
- And celebrate your good decisions
Habits are powerful because they can give you back much of the energy required to make decisions, and because a store of healthy practices, can generate a store of good results. Being able to execute without having to expend energy also saves us brain matter for unexpected, difficult decisions we may have to make.
